Sizzling January

Top- BP Nordstrom, Shorts/Clutch- Forever 21, Wedges- Urban Outfitters

It amazes me how hot it is in January.  I'm always cold, so I'm loving the unanticipated sun.  I dressed for the weather too with this funky tribal print top and bare legs.  It's kinda funny how as the climate gets warmer, I would wear more colorful patterns with less accessories and the opposite when the temperate drops.

It's My Birthweek!

Forever 21 tank/ skirt, Sam Edelman heels, Marc by Marc Jacobs watch and misc DIY bracelets

Sorry friends for the absence, I've been celebrating my birthday all week and I'm so happy to get back on track with reality.

I LOVE this blush color skirt from Forever 21 and I'm kicking myself for not picking it up in other colors!  The dramatic hemline is making me giddy and while I was wearing this, I couldn't help but prance around the streets!  (Don't judge me, it was my birthday!)  I should have made a video, but luckily I saved myself the embarrassment haha

Scissors-happy

Vintage dress- thrifted, Boots- Forever 21, Watch- Marc by Marc Jacobs, DIY bracelets

In the words of Britney Spears, oops I did it again!  I found this cute red dress at my local Goodwill store and for $3, I knew I would make it work.  After hand washing it, I took out my scissors and cut off the sleeves and adjusted the hemline.  Working in an office full of black and grey suits, this dress definitely stood out.

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend!

Not Cool

Let me share my opinion of the two newest bills that are UNCOOL, the Protect IP Act (aka PIPA) and the Stope Online Piracy Act (aka SOPA).  These two bills (one from the Senate and the other from the House), if passed, will censor the Web and impose harmful regulations on American business.  Large online corporations such as Google and Apple and millions of internet users have already opposed the PIPA and SOPA.  And this includes us!  What would happen to our online community of bloggers?  Would they censor our creative outlets?  What about music?  Or how we search for random stuff online?  Without Wikipedia, how will I prove to lover boy that I'm right.  Thanks to Youtube, I keep my sanity at work by rocking out to my favorite tunes.

We've all worked too hard and shared too much to let this happen.  Our founding fathers would turn in their graves if they know we let this happen.  The Senate will begin voting on January 24th.  Please let them know how you feel.  Click here to sign this petition urging Congress to vote NO on PIPA and SOPA before it's too late.

Photo Diary- San Francisco Day 1

Some friends and I spent this past long weekend in San Francisco, CA.  I heart this city.  It was a hectic mini getaway and luckily I had my iphone so I can snapped these spontaneous snapshots of our trip on instagram.  (You can follow me @KeepingUpWTerri.)

1. Walking through Chinatown
2  Riding a cable car to Fisherman's Wharf
3. Bike riding to Sausalito, CA
4. Golden Gate Bridge at sunset
5. Enjoying a macadamia nut ice cream from Lappart's in Sausalito

P.S. The 49ners advanced to the playoffs while I was in town!!!!  It made the energy in the city that much more exhilarating!

Bored of the beauty products that I've used since high school, I took the plunge and signed up for "Birch Box":http://www.birchbox.com.  It's a monthly subscription of deluxe beauty samples delivered to your door for only $10!!!  You can cancel at any time, so if you're like me and want to try out new or different products, give Birch Box a try!  You have nothing to lose, but look more fabulous!

My December package comes with:
-"Ageless" perfume
-L'Oreal Mythic Oil (I just ordered the full size bottle and am obsessed with it!)
-Show Stopper fashion tape

In With the Old

Vintage dress (reconstructed), boots from Forever 21, watch from Marc by Marc Jacobs, DIY bracelets

I found this vintage dress in the back of my closet when I was packing for my move and didn't understand why I never wore it.  Turns out the length of the dress hit mid calf and was very unflattering since I'm not that tall.  Following current trend, I shorten my hem with the high/low effect.  I think it turned out quite nicely.

If there is something in your closet that you haven't worn in a while, just reconstruct it to something modern and it's new again!  Be creative!

Foxy Lady- Jimi Hendrix

Vintage tee/shorts, thigh-highs from a dance shop, clogs from Sam Edelman

I love old vintage tees, especially old band/concert shirts.  I don't know if it's because they're so durable or because of the 'worn in' look, but I'm so obsessed.  My dad was a hippie back in the 60s/70s and owns about 2 dozen of these tees (what he savaged from what my mom might have thrown out).  Growing up I would always borrow them and wore them as dresses since they were a tad bit too big.  As I get older, I always thought my dad would give them to me, but he ended up passing them down to my younger brother.  I was so bummed.  But it made sense, my brother IS in a rock band and he IS studying percussion and sound engineer at MI.  Fast forward 2 years and as fate would have it, I am now the proud (stylish) owner of those old band shirts!!!!  ***Thanks younger brother for still growing!

New Chapter

It's official, I've moved all of my stuff to the bf's place!  People say it's a huge commitment, but honestly besides the downsize in closet space and no where to put all of my shoes, nothing's changed.  I guess I'll let you guys know in a few months haha!

First of the Year

Forever 21 dress worn as a skirt, sparkly top from Urban Outfitters, tights from H&M, shoes by Sam Edelman

This year when by so quickly that I didn't really get a chance to make any NYE plans.  I decided to stay in with lover boy since we had such a hectic Christmas, but at the last minute that changed.  I literally had 10 minutes to throw something together and came up with this festive gold number.

After 5 days of potlucks and family dinners, I needed something a little 'forgiving' and found this dress that has a ruched skirt and paired it with a sparkly gold top over the skirt (a little trick to hide the "holiday pouch").

I hope you guys had a great start to a new fabulous year! XO
